In making our books, we spend as much time on materials as on words. We partner with Gmund, a Bavarian paper mill founded in the early nineteenth century, whose papers are developed to the highest standards of quality and environmental responsibility.
TOC books are printed in Berlin-Adlershof by Daniel Klotz at Die Lettertypen on an Original Heidelberg Cylinder Press from 1954, a machine that still sets the benchmark for precision. With three decades of experience, Daniel combines contemporary digital workflows with traditional letterpress craft. He oversees production, binding, and finishing at Buchbinderei Müller in Leipzig under our motto “Preservation through Production.”
Our first titles use a sewn-and-glued binding, printed using a combination of offset and letterpress on 90 gsm Schleipen Werkdruck paper. Colored endpapers pick up and contrast with the jackets, while linen covers, headbands, and reading ribbons complete the object. Each book is a limited edition of 998 numbered copies, printed in Berlin and signed by the author.
